DEPUTY MINISTER OF COMMUNICATIONS, BRUNEI DARUSSALAM FOR AN OFFICIAL WORKING VISIT TO SINGAPORE 18-20 JANUARY, 2006

 

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Deputy Minister of Communications, Yang Mulia Dato Paduka Haji Yusoff Haji Abd Hamid will be in Singapore from 18 to 20 January, 2006 for a three-day official working visit. He will be accompanied by senior officials from the Ministry of Communications. The working visit is in response to the invitation by H.E. Dr. Balaji Sadasivan, Senior Minister of State for Information, Communications and The Arts.

While in Singapore, he will make several courtesy calls to several Singapore ministers responsible for Information and Communications Technology as well as Transportation. First on the list will be a courtesy call to H.E. Mr Lee Boon Yang, Minister for Information, Communications and The Arts and H.E. Dr. Balaji Sadasivan, Senior Minister of State for Information, Communications and The Arts. The emphasis of the visits will mainly focus on areas of interest such as developments on information technology; e-Government and e-related services; e-governance, convergence issues and security.

Dato Yusoff will also make a courtesy call to H.E. Mr Yeo Cheow Tong, Minister for Transport where they first met in Vientiane, Lao PDR when both minister and Dato Yusoff attended the 11th ASEAN Transport Ministers Meeting held on 17-18 November 2005.

While in Singapore, Yang Mulia Dato Paduka Haji Yusoff will also attend briefings by several agencies such as Ministry of Finance, Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore, Multimedia Development Authority and Singapore’s Ministry of Finance. Brunei delegation will also make site visits and briefings by renowned ICT companies who had help spearheaded Singapore’s ICT Development and harness information technology (IT) deployment for both the public and private sectors.

According to Dato Yusoff, the visits provides opporunity for Brunei’s delegation to study and exchange views from Singapore’s vast experience in deploying projects and initiatives. This is Dato Yusoff’s first visit to Singapore since taking up the post of Deputy Minister of Communications in May last year.
