COOPERATION between Brunei Darussalam and Sweden was underscored yesterday after a delegation, led by Par Ahlberger, the Swedish Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam, yesterday paid a farewell courtesy call to the Minister of Communications.
Joining Ahlberger on his visit to bid farewell to Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia Hj Abu Bakar Hj Apong were key representatives of Swedish companies, Ericsson and Saab.
Also present was Hj Alaihuddin POKDGSLDSU Hj Mohammad Taha, the permanent secretary at the ministry.
During the brief visit, the outgoing ambassador expressed his hope that the relationship will continue to grow in the fields of cooperation. Ahlberger is a non-resident ambassador to Brunei based in Singapore. He arrived there in September 2006 after being appointed ambassador of Sweden to Singapore. He was granted an audience with His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam to present his credentials in February 2007.
Before joining the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ahlberger held several positions in organisations like the Swedish Red Cross, the Swedish National Research Establishment, the Europeean Union Commission in Brussels and the European Free Trade Association Secretariat in Geneva.
His career also saw him working for Sweden's Ministry of Defence; and the Ministry of Industry and Trade. Prior to his appointment as ambassador to Singapore and Brunei, Ahlbeiger had been posted at the Embassy of Sweden in Copenhagen, Denmark and more recently as Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Sweden in Beijing, China.
