DR AWANG HAJI SUPRY BIN HAJI AWANG LADI

Dr Haji Supry bin Haji Ag Ladi was born on 07 May 1966, started his early education at Sekolah Rendah Dato Ahmad Kampong Burong Pingai Ayer and Sekolah Rendah Haji Tarif Kampong Tamoi. He underwent his Secondary Education at Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien College and Awang Semaun Secondary School (formerly Sungai Kebun Secondary School). He then proceeded to 6th Form Centre in Gadong (Now known as Maktab Duli Pengiran Muda Al-Muhtadee Billah) before pursuing his studies to Polytechnic of East London, United Kingdom for his BEng (Hons) in Civil Engineering in 1986 which he completed in 1989.

Dr Haji Supry holds a Master of Science (MSc) in Civil Engineering specialising in Traffic and Transportation Engineering (Land) from the University of East London, United Kingdom in 1994. He also holds a Philosophy of Doctorate (PhD) in Civil Engineering, specialising in Traffic Management/Road Safety (Geographical Information Systems coupled Prediction Modelling of Road Traffic Accident in Brunei) from the same University in 2007.

He began his career as an Education Officer at Sultan Saiful Rijal Technical College (MTSSR) in 1989. He later moved to Institut Teknologi Brunei (Upgraded to University in 2008 and renamed as UTB in March 2016) and held several positions including amongst others, as Senior Lecturer from 1st June 1998 to 23rd June 2008; Principal Lecturer from 24th June 2008 to 1st April 2012; Head of Research/Director of International and Public Relations/ Director of Centre for Road Safety Studies (Now Centre for Transport Research, UTB); Acting Deputy Director from 4th November 2008 to 3rd February 2009; Acting Registrar & Secretary in July 2011; and Acting Assistant Vice Chancellor in December 2011.

As of 2nd April 2012, Dr Haji Supry was transferred to Ministry of Communications as Acting Director of Transportation, and was confirmed as the Director on 1st June 2013. He later moved to Land Transport Department as Acting Director of Land Transport and Chairman of Motor Transport Licensing Authority (MTLA), and was confirmed as the Director on 1st December 2014.

Throughout his career, he has been bestowed a number of awards namely; 'Pingat Indah Kerja Baik' (PIKB) in 2001; 'Pingat Setia Bakti' (PSB) in 2013; 'Pingat Kerja Lama' (PKL) in 2015.

On 24th May 2017, Dr Haji Supry was appointed by his Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam as Acting Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Communications. Effective 1st March 2018 by Command of His Majesty Paduka Seri Baginda Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Dr Haji Supry was appointed as Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Communications.

Dr Haji Supry and his wife, Dayang Zamzaipa binti Haji Ismail, are blessed with five children. He enjoys table-tennis, cycling, football and badminton.
